DIG DUG: Digging Strike (ディグダグ ディギング ストライク) (Also known as DIG DUG: DS) is the first DIG DUG game developed by Namco's sub-studio Project Driller. It uses elements from both DIG DUG and DIG DUG II.

Development

DIG DIG: DS was made with the help of Bullets, a Japanese game company that helped with games such as Wario Ware Gold, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 and Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection. Digging Strike was designed by Teruyuki Shirakawa and Yuta Hamak who based of from the scraped concepts for DIG DUG 3.

Plot

The games plot takes place some time after Mr.Driller Drill Spirits, Susumu is soaking in his new found fame and Taizo isn't having it, He receives a call from a representative for The Republic of Horinesia trying to get a hold of Mr.Driller, Taizo goes to Horinesia see what they need, The President of Horinesia accepts Taizo's help and explains that the country is in danger from monsters coming from underground, So Taizo deals with the problem, Meanwhile Susumu and Pucchi fallows Taizo in concern of his wellbeing.

Gameplay

DIG DUG: DS combines the gameplay of DIG DUG and DIG DUG II, The player must go underground and tunnel under Large Stakes to break apart the the island to sink one giant boss monster into the sea.

There are several power-ups in the game.
